Jackson I met at the Michigan State Soldiers Home in 1894 or 1895 was not Sergeant James H. Jackson of Company B 55th Massachusetts Colored Infantry. I did not see Sergeant Jackson die but was in Chicago,

By death and resignation some promotions were made in our company.

We never had a Captain Phelps or Lieutenant Smith or Sergeants Pinckney or Butler.

I knew Sergeant Pinckney of the 54th Massachusetts Colored Volunteer Infantry at the Michigan State Soldiers' Home at Grand Rapids, Michigan from 1891 to 1895. I have forgotten what company of the 54th Massachusetts Colored Volunteer Infantry Pinckney claimed he was in.

It was at the Michigan State Soldiers Home I met James H. Jackson, who claimed he was in Company B 55th Massachusetts Colored Volunteer Infantry as Sergeant. As I know Sergeant James H. Jackson personally and know of his death in Chicago, Illinois where I last saw him about 30 years ago I know the James H.

DEPOSITION G

Case of James H. Jackson, No. 922,015

On this 12th day of July, 1906, at Marion, county of Grant State of Indiana, before me, C.E. Paul, a Special Examiner of the Bureau of Pensions, personally appeared James W. Curry alias Dorsey, who, being by me first duly sworn to answer truly all interrogatories propounded to him during this special examination of aforesaid claim for pension, deposes and says:

I am 63 years of age; address National Military Home, Indiana. I live at West 26th Street, Marion, Indiana but am a member of the Home.

I served in Company D 55th Massachusetts Colored Volunteer Infantry from the spring of 1863 to August, 1865 as Private.

Our Colonel was named Hartwell, our major was Foe (?), my Captain was William Nutt, our Lieutenant
