That Garnet name seems familiar but I dont remember the Cesar part. That Garnet part is familiar too (see George Garnets name of list of Co. C, 10 U.S. Cav[alry]) I believe there was a Capt[ain] Emerson of my Mass[achusetts] service.

I don't remember Geo[rge] T. Prosser or W[illia]m T. Banks, or W. H. Little, oh, yes, I knew a man by name of Pinckney who was of my reg[imen]t. He went from Canada - West Chatham and he was a Sergeant. His name was Alex Pickney. There was but one white private in my regt. His name was Sebolt - either Thomas or James.

[researcher note: William Cebolt, actually. Census records describe him as mulatto or Black but he may have been white passing or very light-skinned.]

He was in my Co[mpany], I think. I don't recall Wm Butler, Thomas Davis, Edward B. Emerson, Jos[eph] K. Hallowell, Wm W. Nesbit, James Oliver or John Young. There was a John Johnson but I thought he died in service.

Q: How did you learn where your comrade Delany was so or to get his evidence?

A: I found it out by writing a letter to his mother in Canada. Mr. Fisher, President of the College here wrote for me. John Taylor wrote to Delany for me and Delany wrote back he could make an affidavit for me and he did.

I knew John Winecoop well in service Also Newton Butler who lives about Hedges, Ohio, Hezekiah Stewart wrote me. The way I found out when Hezekiah Stewart was an agent came to see me in Stewart's claim and asked me if I would make an affidavit in his claim and I said I would. And then he said "Well now I will tell you where Hezekiah is and may be he will make you an affidavit in your claim", and I wrote to him and he sent me his affidavit.

Q[uestion]: Who knew of your said wounds in service?

A[nswer]: Hezekiah Stewart, Hedges, Paulding Co., Ohio. Delaney, Nashville, Tennessee.

Q: How did you get acquainted with your comrad Delany, and when and where?

A: Right in Canada - me and him went from Chatham West, Ontario, Canada right to Boston and enlisted together. We stopped in Buffalo, Albany, and New York on the way.
