I went in to Co. C 10 U.S. Cav. I was enlisted at Louisville, Ky. I was stript stark naked and examined by two a them doctors - Don't know their names. My Capt[ain] was - Burns. Lieut[enant] Taylor, Lieut. Duan, and Sergt. Garnett, Sergt. Schwapsher, Sergt. Robinson, and others I don't remember.

No, sir, I never was a sergeant while in Co. C, 10" U.S. Cav, but I acted as a

From M[uster] O[ut], Mass[achusetts] Service.

From Boston, Mass. I went to Chatham West, Canada, staid a couple of weeks. Then I went to Louisville, K[entuck]y a week and found my people were up here and here I came and lived to my m[uster] i[n] Co. C, 10 U.S. Cav.

On arriving here, I met my mother Sallie Gibson, my father, dead, and my brothers Jack and Sandy Gibson, and Jesse Hays. I don't know of any one in Louisville, Ky I met during the week then before I came here. All dead.

I don't remember or recall John Burning, Alphonzo Chandler, W[illia]m Davis, Lorenzo Foster, Hubbard Hamm, David McCurry, John Porter, Charles Robinson, Wm Turner.

At discharge I was suffering from would left hand by pain and cramping; from wound of hip, by pain; from shell wound of right side head, by pain and roaring in head; and of neck, by pain; and of temple of left side, by pain. No, I had no epilepsy then [TBD] in Cav service.
