I don't know who was present and saw me hurt. The man that struck me was from B Co[mpany], I think, but I don't remember his name. I don't remember who waited on me in service in hospital at Fort Arbuckle. Surgeon Buckmaster treated me. Well, that scrape may have gotten me dishonorably discharged. When I got hurt I was acting as sergeant. If I was ever appointed Sergeant I don't know it. They made me a private before I was discharged.
Q: How badly were you hurt by that blow from stick on head from comrade at Fort Arbuckle?
A: Well, he knocked in the skull - broke it in, but it was over wound - shell wound of right side of head I got at Bunker Hill. Yes, I mean it was in that shell wound I got at Bunker Hill of right side of my head, but it

A: Oh, that was just a fellow struck me side the head. He struck me with a stick. We were quarreling when he struck me. We were at F[or]t Arbuckle, Chickasaw Nation. I forget the man's name who struck me. I was in hospital for it a day or two. Oh, it didn't hurt me much. Oh, yes, I went in the hospital for it. It just dazed me. I walked to the hospital by myself. Oh, I was in hospital three or four weeks for it.
Q: On what part of the head did that man hit you?
A: He hit me with a stick and he hit me right in the place where I got shell wound on right side of my head at battle of Bunker Hill, S[outh] C[arolina]. Yes, he knocked me down flat and I was dazed for a day or two - lost my senses but I walked to the hospital.
