He has complained some since I have known him of his head where he said he was struck with a sword. (Claimant: You mean by shell don't you?) Yes, by shell. He has not complained of rheumatism or diarrhea that I know of at any time. Well, he first complained of his head being dizzy, and pain in it about 16 years ago, and we were working together - stocking corn, and he did not seem to be able to do so well as a well man. Then later on, in Fall of year, we hucked corn together and he said his head bothered him in stooping and so at different kinds of work at different times since he has so complained. I don't know of any rupture he ever got or injury to head or hand or back.

I served in Co[mpany] D, 117" Inf[antry] C[olored] V[olunteer] Inf. Aug[ust] 15, 1864 to Aug. 16, 1867. I am a pensioner.

I was born and raised in Carrollton, K[entuck]y and lived in Carroll Co[unty], Ky all of my life up to my enlistment Aug. 15, 1864. I was discharged at New Orleans, L[ousian]a and went straight to Jeffersonville, Indiana across from Louisville, Ky where I lived about three years, and then I came here to live, where I had never been before, and have lived here ever since. When I came here I lived here about two years before I got acquainted with the man present who was then going by the name of Billy Gibson. He has since told me had another name of John Sanders.

DEPOSITION D

Case of William Gibson alias John Sanders, No. 648,529.

On this 10th day of March, 1899, at Hanover, county of Jefferson, State of Indiana, before me, A.J. Green, a special examiner of the Bureau of Pensions, personally appeared King Sanders, who, being by me first duly sworn to answer truly all interrogatories propounded to him during this special examination of aforesaid claim for pension, deposes and says:

I am 54 3/4 years of age; my post-office address is Madison, Jefferson Co[unty], Indiana.
