He has once in awhile complained of his head hurting him and his eyes too. I don't know whether he has any bad or vicious habits - he has never used whiskey and I never saw him drink. He uses tobacco - chews. He has complained of rheumatism and he falls down

discharge. Then I came here. No, I never had been here or had lived here until two years after my discharge. No, I don't know whether it was in 1865, 1866 or 1867 that I was discharged. I was discharged in the spring of the year and the spring after the war ended.
I did not get acquainted with the man present who went by the name of John Sanders then and that and William Gibson some now until I had been here quite a while. He then told me he had been in the army too but I don't know what Co. or reg[imen]t. He then told me about being wounded in each side of his head and in his hand - I don't recollect clearly which hand but now I know from talking with him it was his left hand. I don't know whether his wounds were running or sores or dried up at that time.

Case of William Gibson alias John Sanders, No. 648,529
On this 10th day of March, 1899, at Hanover, county of Jefferson State of Indiana, before me [A.J. Green], a special examiner of the Bureau of Pensions, personally appeared Lowry Sanders, who, being by me first duly sworn to answer truly all interrogatories propounded to h[im] during this special examination of aforesaid claim for pension, deposes and says:
I am about 57 years of age; my post-office address is Hanover, Jefferson, Co[unty], Ind[iana].
I served in Co[mpany] A, 109 U[nited] S[tates] C[olored] V[olunteer] I[nfantry] about two years. I don't know year of enlistment or discharge. Well, I have lived here about 35 years. Well, I lived in Jeffersonville, Ind. about two years after my
