Shinoki Hisashi, later known as Kimura Hisashi, was born in Kanazawa, Ishikawa-gun, Kaga-no-kuni on 4 October 1870, the second son of Shinoki Shōtarō. He was adopted by Kimura Tamie of Ishikawa-ken in 1871. He was an astronomer, known for discovering the z-term (also known as the Kimura term), a term added to the equation regarding Earth's polar motion. He died in Setagaya-ku, Tōkyō-to on 26 September 1943.
