Biography

Anne Barne

Origin

Anne was "apparently" born between 1587 and 1592, according to the article on the Lovelace family in The Virginia Magazine of History and Biography (Page 124).[1] (using 1590)

Anne Barne, daughter of William Barne, Knight, of Woolwich, Kent, by Anne, daughter of [Rev] Edwin Sandys, D.D., S.T.D., Archbishop of York, was born about 1590.[2]

Family

Anne married twice.[1] Anne married, as her 1st, to Sir William Lovelace, Knight of Bethersden and Woolrich, Kent.[1] The married on about 17 May 1611 (the evidence for this is given in a court case against Williams father)).[3] They had five sons: Richard, Thomas, [Gov] Francis, William, and Dudley, and three daughters: Anne, Joan (Caesar) and Elizabeth (Hayne).[4]

Sir William Lovelace, knight, a soldier by profession, died at the siege of Groll in Holland, 12 August 1627.[5]

Anne (Barne) Lovelace married 20 January 1630/1, at Greenwich, Kent, as her 2nd, to Dr. Jonathan Browne of London, Doctor of Laws, Dean of Hereford, 1636, Canon of Westminster, 1639.[1] Dr. Jonathan Browne died in December, 1643.[1] They had one daughter, Anne (wife of Herbert Croft, D.D.).[6]
