Another find: William Chellis
William Chellis of Kezar Falls, Maine, passed away at his home April 13, 1948, aged 72. Mr. Chellis was born in Newfield, Maine. Dec. 19, 1876 He was a pioneer automobile salesman in Kezar Falls, but was always interested in standardbreds, or so called harness horses. He was not only a breeder, but developed a number of good horses, making a remarkable record with the two-year-old, Echo Harvester. He often attended the "Trots" in Lexington, Ky., where he was a close observer of outstanding performances by the World's best horses that meet there every year in world's competition for supremacy. He was an affiliant with leading clubs of Maine, including the Kiwanis International, the Kezar Falls club and others. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Cornish, Maine. Few men ever associated with the harness horse were held in higher esteem than William Chellis.
