Biography
John was born in 1731. John Anthony ... He passed away in 1808. [1]
Ruth Allen, the daughter of Increase and Lydia Allen, was born on 8 September 1731 at Dartmouth in Bristol County, Massachusetts. She was later married to a man named John Anthony. Even though their intentions to marry were recorded at Dartmouth on 8 January 1754, the actual marriage did not take place until 22 June 1754 at Tiverton in Newport County, Rhode Island.
Although John and Ruth remained in Rhode Island for a number of years after their marriage, they eventually moved to Canada in May, 1760, where they received a land grant in what is now Stanley, in Douglas Township in Hants County, Nova Scotia. John, who had been born in about 1727-31 in Massachusetts, died in Hants County, Nova Scotia on 31 March 1808. Ruth also died in Hants County, but the date of her death has not been determined. Both were subsequently buried in the Anthony-Mosher Cemetery at Stanley in Hants County. [2]
