Samuel Norris[1] was born on 18 March 1773 in Fauquier County, Virginia, the fifth of twelve children and the third of four sons of Lt. William and Hannah Bell Norris.
At an unknown date and place, he married Catherine Carter.

Samuel Norris appears in the 1850 United States Federal Census as a 76-year-old literate farmer with $1500 in real property, living with his literate wife, Catharine, and a literate son and literate daughter-in-law.
