Biography

• Gideon Hurlburt was born circa 1842^{[1] [2]}
• He was the son of John Hurlburt and Sarah MacKinnon Curry of Tusket, Nova Scotia ^{[3] [4]}
• Gideon married #Mary Hurlburt, daughter of George and Deobrah White Hurlburt; and had children^[1], including:

1. Maretta, born circa 1865^[1] no further record found
2. Clara, born circa 1867^[1], who may have married William Larabee in Massachusetts^[5]
3. Julia, born circa 1868^[1], no further record found
4. Lyman, born circa 1870^[1], who died in 1910^[6]

• The family moved to Massachusetts before the 1881 Census. Gideon became a US Citizen in 1900^[7]
• Mary died on August 28, 1880 in Brockton, Massachusetts^[8]
• Circa 1882, the two published genealogies noted here clearly state that Gideon married Mary's sister Martha Hurlburt, but all other sources for Martha, Gideon and Dorothea confirm that he married instead her sister Dorothea. Possibly, the same person with either Martha or Dorothea being a middle name. Also possibly a mistake copied from each other in the genealogies.
