On the 1860 census Peletiah Kinsman was a farmer aged 35 (born Nova Scotia) with wife Mary and children George (aged 9) and William (aged 2). They were living in Township 106 in Winona, Wisconsin. [1]
In 1900 William was living with his wife Della in Phipps, South Dakota and he was a farmer. They had one son, Vernon, aged 10 [2]
According to the 1910 census, Della was married in 1887 . In 1910 she was living in Eden, Clark County with their two children, Vernon (20) and Orville (9). [3]
In 1920 William was reported as living with his wife Della in Eden, South Dakota with their children Vernon (aged 29) and Orville (aged 19) [6]. William's mother Mary, then aged 90, was living with them. However, there is a mass of evidence that William had died several years earlier. Either this William is added in error, or there was another head of household called William at that time and the enumerator has assumed that he was a Kinsman.
