Hope I get it! If and when, will send youa copy. John On Tue, 25 Jan 2000 21:52:57 EST, Varow48 at aol.com wrote: Hi -- My aunt ran across a letter written by John gile or John giles who wasthe minister of the Setauket Presbyeterian church in Setauket, Long Island,NY in the 1840's. He died in 1849 at the age of 33. He wrote a three page letter to the Board explaining to them in detail why hethought it would be a good idea to pay him the salary they had agreed to.They had at the time paid him 1/4 of the amount agreed upon over the courseof 4 years. The letter was dated February 13, 1949, and we find him in thegraveyard by August of the same year. ????????????????????????? My hunch is that the reason my aunt has the letter is that either his wife ora member of the Board was a member of the Strong family. We would like toknow more about poor Giles, his family, etc. Any ideas? Thanks.Sandi(Subsequently received a scan of the 3 page letter on 2/4/2000)
