Biography
Bertha "Bertie"Dodge Burgess was born on 4 Jul 1878 in Pereaux, Kings, Nova Scotia, Canada. She was the daughter of Robert Stewart Dodge and Eleanor Rebecca Newcomb.
In 1900, Birtie Dodge, 21, born Nova Scotia, was a servant with the family of Augustus Fuller in Easton, Bristol, Massachusetts.[1] The town of Bristol had a number of servants who were born in Nova Scotia, including Bertie's widowed mother Rebecca.
She passed away at the age of 56 on 21 Aug 1935 in Woodville, Kings, Nova Scotia, Canada. Her husband, John Burgess, predeceased her and the informant was her son Charles Rathburn. [2]. She is buried with her husband in the Lakeville Presbterian Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings Co.[3]
