Research Notes

  • Ancestry Profile - this ancestry tree (cited as being the source of him dying after 1625 above) actually states he died in 1621 in Canada, backed up by the death of Edward Shipman Senior in 1697 in Connecticut.
  • Ancestry Profile - this ancestry tree states that he was born in Starrington, Nottinghamshire which fact is backed up by the baptism of Edward Shipman 22 April 1602 in Terling, Essex. He is also said to have married in 1619 in Kingston on Hull, Yorkshire.
  • There is no such place as Scarrington in Nottinghamshire.
  • There is no evidence he originated in Nottinghamshire at all, if anything, he was from Essex, but that too is doubtful.

I have rejected the proposed merge, and Ann Beardsley should be removed as spouse for this profile since a man born in 1602 wouldn't be married to Ann Beardsley in 1610. Seems to be two different men named Edward Shipman, each of them with just one wife.

Kenneth,I had proposed the merge because of the same wife, but I agree with your reasoning. I will leave it to Katherine to remove Ann Beardsley, Beardsley-84, as wife of this Shipman. Vic

Shipman-71 and Shipman-21 do not represent the same person because: Seems to be two different men named Edward Shipman.
