Biography

Peter was the son and heir of Peter Giffard of Chillington. [1][2]

Peter was married prior to 1227 to Avice,[3] daughter of Entrop Hastang of Leamington Hastang, Warwickshire. Peter obtained the manor of Walton in frankmarriage with her. [2][4]

Peter probably died around 1241. [2] After his death, Chillington passed first through his sons Peter, William and Hugh who all died without issue before finally to John. [5]

Research Notes

Burke cites the wife of Peter Giffard as Margaret de Chuddeley with no sources provided. Might be confusion with another Giffard.

Giffard-232 and Giffard-88 appear to represent the same person because: Birth year different, Birth country the same, parents the same, spouse the same
