Sir Moyses (sometimes Moses) Hill first came to Ireland as a military officer, with the Earl of Essex, in 1573 and was soon appointed Governor of Oldfleet Castle as it protected the Harbour of Larne from the Scots. He married twice, and was succeeded after his death February 1629-30 by his eldest son Peter. However his youngest son Arthur, finally inherited the estates.[1]
