Such evidence as exists says that Mary Herbert, daughter of Philip Herbert and his wife, Susan de Vere died unmarried. [1] There is no evidence of marriage or emigration and death in Virginia. Mary has been detached from those parents.

Research note
Mary Herbert, said to have been born in Pembrokeshire in 1610, daughter of 4th or 5th Earl of Pembroke. By this time the Herbert family had pretty much cut their connection with Wales. [2] [3] Though inconclusive neither article names a daughter, Mary.
The dob has been changed in the vitals to 1627 making her daughter of the 5th Earl. However a profile exists for Mary Congdon b1606 at Mary Herbert. Both are said to have died in 1646 at York in the Colony of Virginia, the same death date as John Congdon. She cannot have been daughter of the 5th Earl who was born about 1622.
Said to have been the wife of John Congdon of Virginia. John Congdon's record in Virginia does not name his wife. [4]
She is also said to have been the mother of Benjamin Congdon of Rhode Island. The story that Benjamin was a grandson of an Earl of Pembroke is mentioned in The Congdon Chronicle 1921 is dismissed by the author as unclear and indefinite. This appears to be a copy of material at One Hundred and Sixty Allied Familys 1893 where it is also dismissed. Though it is said therein that Benjamin is said to have been son of a John Congdon there is no mention of Virginia.
