Ebenezer's father, Ebenezer Sr., emigrated from Wales to New York. Ebenezer became a tenant farmer in Duchess County in the Hudson River valley. During the American War of Independence, he apparently enlisted in the King's Orange Rangers. In approximately 1786 the Jones family emigrated to Upper Canada, settling in Saltfleet Township.[1]
