John Lloyd was born in 1575 at Dolobran, Montgomeryshire, Wales. He married Catrin/Katherine Wynne.[1][2] Their son Charles was born in 1613,[1][2] so they may have married in about 1610.
Catrin was probably the Katherine Lloyd, wife of John, buried at Meifod, Montgomeryshire on 15 April 1625.[3] John married again: in his will, his wife is named as Elizabeth.[4]
John lived at Coedcowryd, Dolobran, Meifod, Montgomeryshire, Wales. He wrote some poetry.[4]
John was buried on 25 May 1636 at Meifod, Montgomeryshire, Wales.[1][2] His will was proved in 1636.[4] It survives in an incomplete state and names four children: a son, Charles, and three daughters, Dorothy, Margaret and Elizabeth.[5]
X John Lloyd, of Dolobraii (born 1575), who married his cousin Katharine, the daughter and coheiress of Humphrie Wynn, of Dylfryn, son of the above named John Wynn, of Dyflryn, by his wife Margaret, daughter of Sir Roger Kynaston. " He kept his abode at Coedcowryd, and wainscoted the parlour thereof and lived there in great state, having twenty-four men with halberts to attend him to Meivod Church, and placed them in his great pew under the pulpit. He also bought Owen John Humphrey's estate in Meivod." He appears as " Johes Lloyd, gen." on the county Grand Jury, 8 James I., and as " Jokes Lloyd de Dolobran, gen." 20 James I., and as " JoJies Lloyd, of Dolobran, Ar.," as a grand juror or magistrate in 2nd, 4th and 9th Charles I. He disappears from the list. of Justices of the Peace 14 Charles I. He was succeeded by bis son :

David Lloyd has previously been shown on WikiTree as son of John Lloyd and Catrin Wynne. This relationship is tentatively shown, with no sourcing and with warnings about the uncertainty of relationships for earlier Lloyds, in a website which includes a page for descendants of David Lloyd and Eva Goch.[7] There is no reliable source for it.
Another David Lloyd, whose profile at 29 November was unsourced, has also been previously shown on WikiTree as a son of John.
The Pease genealogy site has a lengthy tree for the Lloyd family which suggests that Catrin and John Lloyd had a son called Samuel, with no source, but does not name a son called David.[8]
John's will - which survives in an incomplete state - refers to his son Charles and his daughters Dorothy, Margaret and Elizabeth but does not mention other children.[5]
