John was the son of Gertrude Courtenay and Sir John Chichester.[1] He was born the 25th of Feb 1548 at Raleigh, Devon, England. He married Anne Dennis, daughter of Sir Robert Dennis and Mary Blount.[1]He died on the 31st of March 1586 Exeter, Devon, England, from a disease caught from the prisoners in Exeter Castle.[1][2]
