Biography

Samuel Banks was born on 2 May 1784 in Ridgefield, Fairfield County, Connecticut. He was the son of Nehemiah Banks and Sarah Sherwood.

He married Lydia Crane on 31 July 1802. They had 13 children including William Henry, Samuel E., Eli Crane, Mary Ann, Charles R., and Rebecca.

The 1850 United States Census states that he was a physician. He may have also been a silversmith. (source needed)

Samuel died on 29 March 1860 in Danbury, Fairfield County, Connecticut.
