MARGARET PEGGY FLEMING was born 1701, maybe Londonderry, County Ulster, Ireland She was the daughter of JOSEPH FLEMING

She told a story about living close enough to hear the church bells of Londonderry, County Ulster, Ireland

She married WILLIAM BROWN (1687-1757) in 1731. They were married in Ireland. In the 1730s - 1740's William was the overseer on father-in-law Joseph Fleming's Farm, Londonderry, Co Ulster, Ireland.

It is believed they came to America around 1745 landing in Delaware, then Pennsylvania, then Virginia before arriving in North Carolina. William was granted land in Rowan (later Guilford ) May 5 1757. The land was on the south side of North Buffalo Creek across from John Nix land ( Nicks ) , all other land vacant.

William died December 28, 1757 South Buffalo Creek, Rowan County, NC (rezoned Greensboro, Guilford County, NC)

"Margaret Brown, when 84 years old. Traveled over the mountains from North Carolina to Davidson County, Tenn. in a wagon and on horseback with some of her children. Here she died September 17, 1801. She is buried in the old graveyard called “Springhill” on the Gallatin Pike, 7 miles east of downtown Nashville, Tennessee. In the pioneer days it was known as “Craighead”, for it was there the Rev. Thomas B. Craighead (buried near Margaret Brown) the first Presbyterian minister who came to Middle Tennessee settled, and it was not far from here the Porters and Browns also settled when they came from North Carolina at a place called Haysboro. Afterwards they entered large landed estates in Maury Co. and settled there and in Giles, Lincoln, and Bedford Counties"[1]

I am confused by this ancestor. The John Fleming listed as her father had a daughter named Margaret, true, but she was Lady Margaret Fleming who married Sir Archibald Primrose of Ravelston according to The Peerage http://www.thepeerage.com/p8508.htm#i85074. Also, other comments suggest her father was Joseph and not John, but that Joseph was also a son of Sir William Fleming-Earl of Wigton—-as was John. I see John listed in the Peerage as William’s son, but not Joseph. If the sources are provided for all of this it would be very helpful.

Why is Father John Fleming when it is stated in the Biography "She was the daughter of JOSEPH FLEMING." and There is another Comment posted by Randolph Richardson on Jun 24, 2018 stating "This Lady is my 7th GGMother, her Father is - Joseph FLEMING, b. 16 Apr 1676 Inverary, Argyll, Scotland - d.1 Jun 1740 1750 (tbv) Antim, Londonderry, North Ireland - son of Sir William FLEMING, 1650-1687, Earl of Wigton, Scotland."????

if her mother was born in 1695 Margaret could not have been born in 1701....please advise if you have a better birthdate for either...thanks

Fleming-1762 and Fleming-498 appear to represent the same person because: same birth and death dates , same husband
