Geoffrey de Camville of Llanstephan Castle, Carmarthenshire[1]
Geoffrey de Camville was the son of William de Camville (who died before 25 Apr 1200) and his wife Albreda Marmion (who died after 1220).[2]
Geoffrey married "firstly (divorced on grounds of consanguinity) FELICE, daughter of PHILIP de Worcester" and they had one son, Richard.[3]
His second wife was Lleucu, granddaughter of William de Brewes (or Brause) and Maud de Saint Valery, and herself grandmother to Geoffrey de Camville, 1st Lord Camville, who with his son William "in the period 1293/1308 . . . wrote the King and Council regarding the lands of Cardagan of Owain ap Gruffudd 'whose heirs they were'".[1] Geoffrey and Lucy's son, father of Geoffrey, 1st Lord Camville, was William de Camville, who married Lucy _____.[1] William died before 29 Sep 1260.[3]
Lleucu died in 1239; her husband died in 1219[1] (before 20 Sep 1219).[3]
"Recent reserch has located evidence which indicates Lleuca was the daughter of Gruffudd ap Rhys (died 1201), Prince of South Wales, by his wife Maud (died 1210), daughter of William de Brewse III".[1]
Cawley (Medieval Lands) notes that Leuca's parents are not known but could be a son or daughter of William III. His entry for Leuca includes the following:
Birth: about 1175, Clifton Campville, Staffordshire[5]
Occupation: Lord of Clifton[5]
