William Gustine was born in April 1752 in Stonington, New London, Connecticut, British Colonial America, son of Lemuel Gustin (1724–1803) and Mary Hannah Cutten (1725–1775).

William had a sister, Prudence Gustin (~1745 – ~1812).

William (20) married Priscilla Bunker (18) (born in 1754 in Hebron, Tolland, Connecticut) in April 1773 in Saybrook, Middlesex, Connecticut. Their children were:
