Biography

The son of Newton Green, and Mary (Smith) Green, Amerricus was born in Tennessee in 1902, possibly McMinn County. Census have different spellings of his name.

1910 Mircas was living with his parents in McMinn County, Tennessee. ^[1]

1920 Americcus was living with his parents in Loudon County, Tennessee. ^[2] Marcus moved north, to New York, where he married Bessie Irene Jennings, the daughter of Charles Jennings and Edna Cornish, marrying in Newburgh, New York on October 27, 1927.^[3][4] At the time of the marriage, Marcus, age 21, worked as a machine operator and Bessie, age 18, worked as a waitress.

In 1930, Marcus and Bessie lived with his in-laws and worked at a restaurant in Newburgh, New York.^[5][6] In 1940, Marcus worked as a tinsmith helper in Newburgh, a government job, and Bessie worked as the foreperson at a laundry.^[7][8]

Marcus passed away in Orange County, New York at the age of 70^[9] and is buried at Highland Cemetery there.^[10]
