Biography

Mary Mayhew was born c.1687-1689, (some records have 9 Jun 1693 but her mother died 1690), and died 1765. She was the daughter of John Mayhew and Joanna Christophers [1].

She is interred at Sterling Cemetery, Greenport, Long Island, NY.

"In MEMORY of Mary ye Wife of Joshua Youngs Esqr. who died April 24th 1765 in ye 78th Year of her Age."

Jeffrey Christophers (b. ca. 1621) and Christopher Christophers (ca. 1631-1687), brothers and mariners, arrived at New London, Connecticut, ca. 1665, perhaps by way of Barbadoes. They may have been born in Devonshire, England. Jeffrey and his family moved to Southold, Long Island, New York, ca. 1700. Christopher Christophers died at New London, Connecticut. Descendants of the brothers listed lived in Connecticut, New York, and elsewhere.
