Biography
Israel Matthias was born on June 9, 1796 in North Carolina to Jacob Harkey Sr and Katherine Teeter. He passed away on November 3rd 1876 and was buried in an unmarked grave at Rogan Field. His wife Catherine (Furr) Harkey was moved to San Saba City Cemetery, San Saba, Texas so the city could build a new park complex, but a grave marker was put in for him at the new location.[1]
