Biography

Thomas Jr and his father moved to Pomfret, Ct around 1731. He was a farmer and his first recorded land purchase in 1748 for £700. At first he was a member of the Congregational Church in Pomfret, then one of the original members of the Cong. Church, Abington Parish which society organized in 1743. Later he became a Baptist. He was one of the leaders in the founding of the Baptist Church in Hampton located in Windham on Grow Hill, near his home. He was the first Deacon and his son William was its first pastor. It was established in 1770 and lasted around 50 years.
