Edward was born c. 1525, the eldest son of Henry Stephens of Frocester, gent.
Edward made his will 13 Aug 1587, which mentioned his son Thomas, daughters Margery Parker and Alice Wilcox, and James Stephens. His will was proved 17 Nov 1587. [1]
Edward died in 1587. He was bur. on a date after Oct 1587 in Eastington church. In the parish register, his burial is recorded in scrawling hand; “Edward Stephens armiger sepultus est.” between two entries on 7 Oct 1587 and 23 Jan 1587/8.[2] This entry indicates that he was a gentleman and entitled to bear arms. Edward’s will was proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury (PCC) on 17 Nov 1587, so he likely died in Oct 1587.
