Biography
Seth, son of Nicholas and Sarah Vining Whitman, married Ruth Reed of Abington, MA in 1741. Their children were: Stephen 1745, Sarah 1751, Seth 1754, Enos 1756, Ruth 1759 & Hannah 1762. Seth died at age 65 in 1778.
Seth was born to Nicholas Whitman and Sarah (Vining) Whitman in Bridgewater, Plymouth county, Province of Massachusetts Bay.
Seth married Ruth Reed on 23 June 1741 in Bridgewater, Plymouth county, Province of Massachusetts Bay. They had children: Stephen - 1745 Sarah - 1751 Seth - 17 February 1754 Enos - 1756 Ruth - 1759 Hannah - 1762
Probate
The will of Seth Whitman of Bridgewater, yeoman, was dated 30 June 1778 and proved on 3 August 1778 in Plymouth. He mentions his wife Ruth, and his children, Seth Whitman, Jr. (executor), Enos Whitman, and Sarah Gilbert, wife of Pelahiah Gilbert, his grandsons, Stephen Reed Whitman, and Independence Whitman (sons of his deceased son Stephen), and his brother Jonathan Whitman.[1]
In 1785, his widow Ruth received her dower.[2]
