Biography

Daniel Adams, son of Sgt. Daniel Adams and Mary Hester Phelps, was born 1679 in Simsbury, Hartford co., Connecticut.

He married Thanks Shepard in 1696 in Simsbury. She was born on 30 Jun 1683 in Concord, Middlesex co., Massachusetts to Abraham and Judith (Sill) Shepard.

He served under Major Willard in King Philip’s War. He was a member of Connecticut House of Representatives from Simsbury, 1699 to 1703^[1]

He died on 10 Jan 1713 in Simsbury. After Daniel's death, Thanks married Joseph Pettibone, prior to 1715. Thanks Shepard Adams died 2 Nov 1724 at age 41.

Daniel and Thanks (Shepard) Adams had seven children: Thankful^[2], unknown Son, Ephraim, Daniel, Abraham, Hannah, and James H.

Daniel Addams' will dated 9 January 1713 by John Higley Sr. John Case, and Samuel.

I Daniel Addams Jr. of Simsbury, do appoint this to be my last will and testament. I give to my wife Thanks Addams the 1/3rd part of my whole estate, real and personal, during my life, and (pounds) 10 in money at her disposal. I give to my sons Daniel, Abraham, and James all my land to be divided equally among them. I give unto my daughters Thanks and Hannah my moveable estate after their proportions of my debts are paid out of them. If the income of my estate is not sufficient to bring up my children, they shall be brought up their several shares. I appoint my wife Thanks sole executrix. Witnesses: Timothy Woodbridge and Josiah Westover.^[3]
