Biography

William Tabbutt, born c1768; died at Addison during the 1840's; lived at South Addison [ADD 1790-1840]; married (1st) at Machias 5 April 1792 ELIZABETH McDONALD, born at Jonesport say 1772; died c1826; (dau of Hix #2) and had 12 children.

Elizabeth was the daughter of Angus McDonald, a Scottish immigrant, and Anna Hix McDonald. She was third born among her siblings John, Anna, Thomas, William, Lydia, and Andrew.

She married William Tabbut April 5, 1792, in Machias, Maine. Together they had Anna, Thomas, Charles, William, John, Obediah, Andrew, Barbara, Lydia and Andrew. After 24 years of marriage, she left him a widower, as she died at age of 54.

Loring Cushing’s Co. in Cape Elizabeth militia 29 April 1757 during Erench and Indian War; fisherman whose family lived at Cape Elizabeth. He was apparently at Addison seasonally as a fisherman in 1760s, and early settlers stayed overnight at his fish-house there in 1767; by 1772 he had a fishing hut on Sawyer Point at Jonesport; m {probably at Cape Elizabeth} LYDIA^ WOODBURY, b at Beverly MA 6 Nov 1728; d 1763-f-; dau of Thomas' and Priscilla'* (Woodbury) Woodbury; 4 known children (there were probably others}: Hix#2 2 i ANNA^ b say 1749; d (probably at Jonesport} 1824-I-; m at Cape Elizabeth 23 Dec 1767 ANGUS' McDONALD, b in Scotland 174?, d at Jonesport cl813, settled briefly at Columbia with Owen' McKenzie, then sold out to him "within a year or two" and moved to Jonesport.
