PVT Joseph Homer was a Civil War Veteran with Co. G 4 Regt. Mass. HV Arty.^[2] Joseph was wounded during the campaign (march) from New England towards Washington in. the pursuit of taking back the capital from the Confederacy.. Like his father,was involved in working in Paper Mills. Tileston and Hollingsworth Paper Company.

In 14 Aug 1867 Joseph met and married Elizabeth A. Arnold in Braintree Massachusetts . They had about five children together.

Joseph Gilbert Homer passed away in 1894 and was buried at the Milton Cemetery, Milton, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.^[3]
