Biography

Charles Gaudet was born on October 31, 1855 in Louisiana, United States, son of Desire Gaudet (1810–1881) and Coralie Hollier (1820–1859).[1][2]

Charles (20) married Marie Sophie Devillier (17) (born on December 12, 1858 in Opelousas, St Landry, USA; daughter of Francois Coulon (De Villier) De Villiers and Julie (Roy) Devilliers) on August 12, 1876 in Opelousas, St Landry Parish, Louisiana.[3] Their children were:

In the 1860 census, Charles (age 5), lived with his father, Pierre, born in france, engineer, real estate $3,000, personal property $12,500, his sister, Cecile (age 14), his brother Desire (age 3)was in St Landry, Opelousas, Louisiana, United States.[18]

In the 1880 census, Charles Godet (age 23), head of household, lumber dealer, lived with his wife, Sophie (age 19), keeping house, their daughter, Coralie (age 2), At Home, and their son, Desire (age 1) in St. Landry, Louisiana, United States.[19]

In the 1900 census, Charles (age 45), head of household, farmer, lived with his wife, Sophie (age 38), their sons, Desire (age 20), Stanislas (age 18), their daughters, Julie (age 16), Odile (age 13), Odelie (age 7), Adila (age 4), and Blanche (age 1) in Police Jury Ward 3 (east part), St. Landry, Louisiana, United States.[20]

In the 1910 census, Charles (age 54), head of household, farmer, lived with his wife of 33 years, Sophie (age 48 ), their daughters, Aselie (age 17), Adila (age 14), and Blanche (age 10). Their grandson, Offord Pearce (age 11), son of their daughter Cora lived with them. They lived next door to their married son, Stanislas (age 28), and his family.[21]

In the 1930 census Charles (age 74) was the widowed father-in-law of Weston Wyble in Port Arthur, Jefferson, Texas, United States.[22]

Charles died on October 11, 1946 in Opelousas, St Landry, Louisiana, aged 90,[23] and was buried in Saint Landry Church Cemetery, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, United States.[24]
