Note

Note:  !Most of this information came from "Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia, Vol V"
(1948), p. 421, by Folks Huxford. After Civil War George moved to Coffee Co.
near the Mount Zion Baptist Church in present Atkinson County. It may be
possible that he's buried near that church, or be in their records? He
Married Mrs. Nancy Howell a young widow with one little son, Eaton H. Howell.
Apparently no one knows the maiden name of Mrs Howell, but this second
marriage, to George W. R. Stone was when she was about 18 years old. They
proceeded to have 12 known children. She died about 15 years (1893?) after him
(1878). Though put in as Ware County, it may have possibly been Clinch Co. for
the births of the children?
This story gets stranger by the minute. According to "Stone & Related Families" by Lena Belle Stone (2003) Nancy Howell said she was never married before on her Confederate Widow's Pension application, though she is said to have a son named William (Willie) Howell. Now according to Huxfore her son was named Eaton H. Howell and he had a son named William Howell. I wonder if as I get further into the research I will find out that Eaton was a brother to Nancy and perhaps she died and raised William? Definitely a need for more research in this area. Got to find the family of Isham and Nellie Howell, perhaps in an 1830 census for Ware County Georgia?
