Biography

III. MOSES 3 HOIT (Moses2, Simon1) was born probably before 1662, for late in 1682 he was granted a home lot which seems to show that he was approximately of age. Nevertheless, his age is given as 40 years in the list of men of military age in 1710, which would make his birth date about 1670. Possibly 40 years is a misreading of 50 in the original manuscript. He married, about 1691, Elizabeth, daughter of Richard and Sarah (Sanford) Shute, born at Eastchester, September 3, 1672. He died between January 5 and March 14, 1711/12. His widow married, secondly, Robert2 Bloomer (Robert1) of Rye.(h) All the sons were called Haight in later life. [1]

Elizabeth Shute[2] was born 3 September 1672 in East Chester, Orange Co., New York.[3][4]

Note

ELIZABETH SHUTE WIFE OF MOSES HOYT, JR. - GENERATION X. Most genealogies give very little or no information of the mothers. who brought forth the sons, and their contributions toward the making of. this country. Although I am sure all of these early female colonist. contributed in many ways to the hard work, health and comfort of their. families, their contributions have been, for the most part ignored. Elizabeth Shute was born in Eastchester, the grandaughter of one of the. first settlers there. She came from a family equally as prominent and. well-fixed as that of her husband and as such probably did much within. the community.

Thank you Mr Haight. I’m also a descendant of this family - the surname Shute and Schutt has turned up in some of my searches as dna matches.

Shute-42 and Shute-311 appear to represent the same person because: I don't see why this match was rejected, birth, parents, husband and children are all a match, even the name is a match. Please write an explanation to why this gets rejected, if someone chooses to reject this merge.
