There is some confusion here to me. I have one source that says Mary was from Livingston County, New York. Another says that she was from Hebron, New York. Hebron is a town in Washington County, New York. The two Counties are on opposite sides of the state. I can't explain this and can find no explanation or concrete evidence one way or the other.

Wayne Co. NY and died of typhoid fever at Marengo IA. They lived in Marathon Twp. of Lapeer Co. MI.

Note* John's wife Mary apparently died of typhoid fever in Iowa at the age of about 42 years. It would appear that John and Mary divorced and were living separately. Later, according to the censu taken in 1880, John is now living with son Henry and his new wife Elma.
