Thomas Daniel Petty I. was born on 31 Mar 1765 in Hickman, Crown Colony of Virginia, son of James Petty Sr. (~1719 - 1806) and Martha (Clanton) Petty (~1724 - 1807).

Thomas, Sr. died on March 4, 1843 in Benton County, Tennessee and is buried in Camden, Benton, Tennessee.

John M. and R.C. Petty, Executors of the estate of Thomas Petty , deceased, made application to make settlement with me - W.P. Morris, Clerk of the Court of said county agreeable to an act of the general assembly in such case made & provided which said settlement I find to be as follows:
1st I find in the hand of the Executors from the sale held as recorded the sum of $129.74 34
One note as John M. Petty - principal & interest $7.91 1/4.
One officers receipt of S Madden Principle Intent $29.82.
One Account for James D. Petty for ? $36. 50
One account on George W. Petty for $8.00
Total amount of available funds which has come into the Executors hand as follows:

{John M. Petty is the youngest son of Thomas & Jane Petty. He came to Texas and settled in Upshur Co, as did the descendants of cousin Moses as tracked by John Petty. James D. Petty is my (Sharolyn) gg grandfather. The Geo. W. is most probably son George Valentine Petty. A. Lashee would be the husband of Elizabeth Petty, daughter of George & Lydia (Harrington) Petty, who lived in Benton Co.}
