Biography

James Ketchum was a Loyalist, born at Norwalk, Connecticut, who married Sarah Burr, and came to New Brunswick in 1783 as Loyalists: eventually settled at Woodstock, Carleton County[1] [2].

  • Note to researchers, the land petitions on microfilm in the Fredericton Archives may add to this information, but care should be taken to choose the correct James Ketchum, as there are at least two others with the same name in NB at the time[3] [4]

Their children included:

  1. Richard, born c1773, who married 1795 Charlotte Upham[1] [5]
  2. Ralph, who married Christiana Griffith[1]
  3. Elizabeth, who married 20 Jan 1793 Ralph Dibblee[1]

James Ketchum died c1791 Woodstock, NB[6]. His widow was alive on July 24, 1795 when his estate was administered.
