Number of Marriages

Number of Marriages: [7]
Note: She never married and lived most of her life with her sister Elizabeth. After Elizabeth's death in Texas, she returned to Franklin Co., Arkansas with her nieces Pheoebe and Mary Dobbs. For a short period of time, she lived at Mulberry, Arkansas with her niece Mary Dobbs; however, she and Mary soon moved in with the Samuel family where she lived the rest of her life. * Shortly after Phoebe Alice Dobbs married Samuel Edgin, Mary Dobbs and Barsheby decided to live alone near Mulberry. It came a very deep snow shortly after they moved out by themselves. It was early in the year and they did not have adequate firewood to last. Due to her rheumatism, Barsheby could not walk in the snow, so Mary ran ahead of her and pack the sonw down so Barsheby could walk behind. Together, they walked over to one of the neighbors, a Mr. Stockton. Mr. Stockton came over and cut enough wood for them to last several days. At the time, Mr. Stockton's wife was sick, so Mary and Barsheby did washing for his wife while they were there. Later in the day, Nathan Edgin rode over on a mule to check on Mary and Barsheby. Mary and Barsheby soon decided that they should live with Samuel Edgin and his family. This story was told to me by Mary Dobbs when she was an old woman and was repeated by Ada Edgin Kearns July 2, 1994. She lived with Samuel Edgin the remainder of her life.

Obviously, this did not improve her condition. At several times during her life, she was almost completely disabled.
