American Revolution Involvement

Signers in Weathersfield[1] include the following:
Eliphalet Spafford, Timothy Parkhurst, William Dean, Jr., Hilkiah Grout, Benoni Tuttle, John Hatch, Samuel Douglass, Jonah Blackslee, Josiah Hatch, Joseph Douglass, Aaron Aahster, Moses Blackslee, Jonathan Newton, Samuel Grixson Allin, Israel Burllinggame, Gershom Tuttle, Oliver Kidder, William Upham, Jacob Gacheill, Edward Grannis, Asa Grout.

Notes

He as a Revolutionary soldier and was among the first at Wethersfield, to declare liberty and independence. His name appears in the New Hampshire rolls, July 21 to Sept 23, 1777, as serving in Capt. Abel Walker's Company, General Stark's Brigade, which marched from Charlestown, NH, to Saratoga NY, to join the Northern Continental Army. He reenlisted in Capt. Hazen's Company, Col. Peter Olcutt, Vermont troops. In 1778 he was again with the New Hampsire troops, Co. Timothy Bedel commanding, for the expedition to Canada. Oct 17, 1778, he again entered service in the Vermont troops and was appointed Lieutant in Capt. William Upham's company.

He went to Claremont with his brother Timothy when he was young and moved to Wethersfield where he lived 1770-80. He was a revolutionary soldier and one of the first at that town to declare for independence. His name appears in the New Hampshire rolls, July 21 to September 23, 1777, as serving Capt. Abel Walker's company, Gen. Stark's brigade. This regiment marched from Charlestown, NH, to Saratoga, NY, to join the northern continental army. He reenlisted in Capt. Hazen's company, Col. Peter Olcutt, of the Vermont troops. In 1778 he was again with the New Hampshire troops, Col. Timothy Bedel commanding, for the expedition into Canada. He entered the Vermont troops again, October 17, 1780, and was appointed lieutenant in Capt. William Upham's company. He captured numerous prisoners and was paid for their release. After the war he moved to Saratoga.
