Biography
Dietrich was the second son of Otto 'der Reiche', Markgraf von Meissen, and his wife, Hedwig von Brandenburg'.[1] and he was born about 1162.[2]
Birth note
The English Wikipedia article for Dietrich (Theodoric I) has a birth date of 11 March 1162, but there are no citations for this date, and the only source (Heinrich Theodor Flathe: Dietrich der Bedrängte. In: Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie (ADB). Volume 5, Duncker & Humblot, Leipzig 1877, p. 186-187), fails to mention any birth date at all.
