Thomas was born to Judge William and Sarah Griswold Hillhouse in Montville on 24 Sept 1766.^[1]

Thomas married, first, Harriet Hosmer in 1797.^[2]

They removed to Troy, New York.

Thomas and Harriet had:^[3]

• Harriet, b. 21 July 1798 in Troy, married Cornelius Schuyler

Harriet died 3 Oct 1811

Thomas then married Ann Ten Brock, in Oct. 1812.^[4]

They settled in Waterville, New York, where they developed an extensive farm.
