Biography

Ralph Trowbridge was born 1737 to Caleb Trowbridge and Jemima Keeler. In 1758 he served in the French and Indian War under Colonel David Wooster in the Fourth Regt. Twelfth Co. In 1761 (est) he married Hannah (last name unknown), according to "Trowbridge Family History." In 1762 they lived in New Fairfield, Connecticut. Military records place him in New York in 1775 and by 1777 Ulster, NY serving in the Third Regiment, as an enlisted man. (Reorganized and re-designated January 26, 1777 as the 3rd New York Regiment. The regiment was to consist of 8 companies from Dutchess and Ulster Counties and New York City and County.) In 1780 Ralph was recorded on the Lt Nathaniel Potter pay roll for services performed on the Western Frontier Ulster County (source Family Search, LZXL-MVP, record no longer listed). Fold3 record shows him being paid 20 Feb 1786 Cantine's Regiment, Militia: Name spelled Trowridge, Stroughbridge, Trobridge. Census records of 1790-1800 showed Ralph lived in Marbletown, Ulster, New York. Death year estimated.
