Biography

James was born about 1721 in York, Massachusetts Bay Colony. He was the son of Nathaniel Lewis and Sarah (_____) Lewis.

He married Hannah Mullinex. James married Hannah Mullenix in 1758 in New York.[1]

Jame's estate passed probate on 12 January 1801 in Hampshire, Massachusetts, United States.[2]

He died on 8 Nov 1756 in Westchester or 12 JAN 1801, Hampden County, Massachusetts.[3]

Buried: Springfield Cemetery, Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts. [4]

The Last Will and Testament attached makes it seem likely that the Massachusetts James Lewis who passed away in 1800 and the Westchester NY James Lewis are the same person. The only places mentioned in the Will are in Massachusetts, and the only family members mentioned do not at all match the Westchester family.

It is still possible that James Lewis the father of Alanson was from Massachusetts, but not the James Lewis whose Will this is.
