Biography

Matthias Flensburgh was born in 1742, in Albany County, New York, and Christened on 23 May 1742 ^[1] Witnesses were Joseph and Margrieta Flensburgh ^{[2] [3]}

He married Christina Schneider December 17, 1762 ^[4] Matthias and Christina were blessed with seven children in their lives. Their first child Johaness Flensburgh was born June 26, 1763 ^{[5] [6]} Their second child, another son, Andries Flensburgh arrived two years later on May 26, 1765 ^[7] Again, there was a two period between children and they have their third son, Whillem Flensburgh on January 21, 1767 ^[8] The same year in May (1767) Matthias is seen in Capt. Joacham Staat's Company of the Colonial Muster Rolls.^{[9] [10]}

Two more years pass and Matthias and Christina have a fourth son come into their lives, Coenraad Flensburgh ^[11] After Coenraad was born a significant number of years pass, possibly as a result of the Revolutionary War. On April 24, 1775 they welcomed their first daughter Cornelia Flensburgh ^[12] Sadly, Cornelia didn't live beyond 1780 as the couple had another daughter of the same name in 1781.

August 2, 1778 saw the couple with another son, Daniel Flensburgh ^{[13] [14]} who was christened September 6, 1778 at the First Dutch Reformed Church in Albany New York. ^[15] Two more years go by before their next child, a daughter is born Cornelia Flensburgh ^[16] March 20, 1784 The Flensburghs had their last child Adam Flensburgh ^[17]

Mathias passed away sometime before 1854. and was buried In the Dutch Reformed Church Cemetery at Day Corners, Saratoga County, New York^[18]
