Biography
John first appeared in Pittsylvania County, Virginia in 1770. This is where he and Sarah were married. Her father and family had come to Pittsylvania a year or two earlier than John. Most of their children were born in Pittsylvania Co, Va. I could not find any record of John’s Rev War service. When he received the land grant, Hawkins County, Tennessee did not exist. It was part of Green County, NC. I’m not sure when John moved to what would become Hawkins Co but it appears to have been around 1786. I believe his father was also named John and was living in Henrico Co or Goochland Co in the earlier part of the 1700’s. He apparently came there directly from England.[1]
John drowned in Holston River, Hawkins Co, TN about 1812. Husband of: (1) Anna Carr; and (2) Sarah Bachman. He was the father of 18 children. Dates on his tombstone are unreadable. The dates I have are, born 1755 and died 1812, but these are not proven. [2]

Of all the supposed sons of John Barnard (Barnard-903), this one is the one I've thought most likely to be connected with my Jonathan Barnard (Barnard-943) but I've found no evidence to that effect.
