Biography

Colin (Mackenzie) Mackenzie Ist of Kincraig is a member of Clan MacKenzie.

Colin Mackenzie was the second son of Roderick Mor Mackenzie, the First of Redcastle. [1]

Colin married Katherine Mackenzie (abt.1600-), daughter of the Reverend John (Mackenzie) Mackenzie Ist of Tolly (abt.1570-1620)of Tolly, minister of Dingwall (sasine to her 15th September, 1617). Children of Colin and Catherine are:

  • Florence, who in 1643 married David Cuthbert, Town-Clerk of Inverness.
  • Agnes, who married, in 1672, Alexander Bayne of Knockbain. Agnes married secondly, the Reverend John Macrae, minister of Dingwall, author of the Ardintoul MS. History of the Mackinzies and of a MS. Genealogy of the MacRas.
  • A daughter, who married John Clunes, Cromarty

Colin, Sr. died in 1649, and was succeeded by his eldest son, Colin Mackenzie, second of Kincraig.

you seem to have Catherine MaKenzie born (1625) after she was married (in 1617)
Mackenzie-909 and Mackenzie-772 appear to represent the same person because: son of Roderick etc. (see The Genealogy of the Families of Douglas of Mulderg and Robertson of Kindeace with their Descendants, A.M. Ross & Company, Dingwall 1895, p18)

The birth date will be somewhere between the two, since Roderick (909's father) was born 1557 and 772's daughter Margaret was engaged in 1638 (so Colin would be born between about 1577 and 1600)
