Biography
Colin (Mackenzie) Mackenzie Ist of Kincraig is a member of Clan MacKenzie.
Colin Mackenzie was the second son of Roderick Mor Mackenzie, the First of Redcastle. [1]
Colin married Katherine Mackenzie (abt.1600-), daughter of the Reverend John (Mackenzie) Mackenzie Ist of Tolly (abt.1570-1620)of Tolly, minister of Dingwall (sasine to her 15th September, 1617). Children of Colin and Catherine are:
- Colin (Mackenzie) Mackenzie IInd of Kincraig (abt.1616-) II, his heir and successor, who married Agnes (Bayne) Mackenzie (bef.1635-), daughter of Duncan Bayne (bef.1610-) of Delny
- Roderick Mackenzie, who married 1) Isabel, daughter of Hector (Mackenzie) Mackenzie IVth of Fairburn (abt.1600-) and 2) Elizabeth, daughter of John (Bain) Bain IVth of Tulloch (abt.1590-1657); sasine to him in 1652, and to her in 1656
- Margaret (Mackenzie) Ross (bef.1620-) who in 1638 married Gilbert (Robertson) Robertson II of Kindeace (bef.1615-bef.1669), II of Kindeace. Margaret married secondly,John Ross (abt.1620-), eldest son of Hugh Ross (abt.1585-) of Achnachloich
- Florence, who in 1643 married David Cuthbert, Town-Clerk of Inverness.
- Agnes, who married, in 1672, Alexander Bayne of Knockbain. Agnes married secondly, the Reverend John Macrae, minister of Dingwall, author of the Ardintoul MS. History of the Mackinzies and of a MS. Genealogy of the MacRas.
- A daughter, who married John Clunes, Cromarty
Colin, Sr. died in 1649, and was succeeded by his eldest son, Colin Mackenzie, second of Kincraig.
